A Bee Fly, a varied group, especially in appearance but still looking characteristically like a cross between a bee and a fly, are important pollinators like this individual working the Frogfruit flowers in the Audubon House landscaping.

The scientific name of this particular individual is Chrysanthrax cypris.

Frogfruit is a ground covering plant that produces small flowers.

Frogfruit flowers attracts all sorts of insects due to its delectable nectar.

Fun Fact: The larvae of Bee Flys are parasitoids, eating their host insects to death.
