Clouds are great. Their constantly changing amorphous puffiness make endless shapes and occasionally recognizable figures that are different for everyone. Heat rising off the road meets cool air just above it causing a shimmering mirage on the road as light is refracted through the air temperature differences. According to the dictionary, “an obscuration of the atmosphere in hot weather, especially a shimmering in the air near the ground that distorts distant views.”
