The last active packing house on US-1 in Indian River County has closed down; being an odd novelty on this busy road overlooked by people who said they drove by it all the time but never knew it was there.  As far as packing houses go, it was a small affair, more of a boutique operation with a souvenir shop store front specializing in gift fruit.  No more.  The end of an era going back to 1947.

Future possibilities include a fast food restaurant being built on the property.
