A look not too far back at the beginning of the Perseverance Rover’s mission to Mars. With the expected landing tomorrow on the Red Planet there is excitement in the air as the suspense builds with the approach of the “seven minutes of terror” Entry, Descent, & Landing timeline.
The Mars 2020 mission spacecraft that includes the Perseverance rover launched from Space Launch Complex 41 aboard a United Launch Alliance Atlas V rocket at 7:50 a.m. on 30 July 2020. At the time of this posting it was already over a million miles away from Earth on its way to Mars with approximately 290 million miles more to go.
