Orion the Hunter and other winter constellations rise in the east over the St. Johns River as seen from James G. Bourbeau Memorial Park in Brevard County. The St. Johns River at this location is a wide, marshy floodplain filled with sawgrass, alligators, and other wildlife. On the night I was there an airboat in the distance made its way slowly through the sawgrass marsh with bright lights being waved around the boat into the surrounding marsh in hunt of something. Note the fishing tackle caught on the power line.
