Birds are actually lining up to use the bird feeders at Audubon House at the Oslo Riverfront Conservation Area (ORCA). And it can get quite raucous at times with the Cardinals, one of which is seen here in the foreground, and the Blue Jays, one can be seen in the background on the feeder, and their young ones all vying for the feeders at the same time. When the squirrels arrive, watch out!
Started today shooting video of the garden life. Obviously, at the beginning of the learning curve though there is a certain peacefulness to watching the video – and being there in person!
A morning hike around the Indrio Savannahs Preserve in St. Lucie County turned out to be a bust. Not only were there few to no birds, but what birds there were kept to the deep shadows or were silhouetted against the Sun. Here are five images of a Blue Jay’s futile attempts to dislodge a Red-tailed Hawk from atop a pine tree at the Indian River Club. The Hawk eventually left on his own long after the Blue Jay gave up and moved on.
