Coyote Visions

I spent an evening in the Treasure Hammock Ranch barnyard with the sound of yipping and barking coyotes in the pastures, along with the mournful cries of the disturbed cows, while a meowing horde of soulful barnyard cats followed me around everywhere I went curious about this unusual late night disturbance. My goal was to light paint various structures in the barnyard. A goal I realize was only partially successful since I spent more time dealing with the gear setup than the composition of the images. At the time, though, everything seemed fine. Now I know what needs to be worked on.

The old barn. The squiggly orange lights are K9 Lucy’s illuminated collar. Her wanderings led an air of unpredictability to the images.

The old barn, again, looking otherworldly and hellish.

The left side of the barn is collapsing along with a small apartment on the second floor.

The right side of the barn has been rebuilt and is quite sturdy. Eventually the left side will be rebuilt, too. K9 Lucy really shows up in this image. The high ceiling accompanied by the low sides remind me of aisles and transepts giving the impression of the barn as some dystopian cathedral.

Outside along the north side of the barn where the ghost horses are corralled.

The horse stalls. Note one of the barn cats makes an appearance in the image.

In the dusk land where the apparitions live.

At this point the wind died down and the bugs began making an appearance leading me to start thinking about escaping the bloodsuckers.

Another barn view. I call this one “Hell Barn”.

Looking north down the road to the pastures where the coyotes are calling.

The hopper bin. This was meant to be a more involved image color-wise but the bugs won out and Lucy and I called it a night.
