Vacancy

I drive by the abandoned Vero’s Motel all the time and felt it was finally time to stop and take a few photos of it before it is torn down. Built in the 1950s and still showing a lot of retro roadside charm, the place has withered away with neglect to looking like the set to a horror film in placid, friendly Vero Beach.

Local legend has it there was a murder here at Vero’s Motel, or at least, a body was found.

In Florida, decay means nature moves in fast to take over.

The other problem with Florida is that old places like this are torn down quickly to make way for the new leaving a hole in the memory of the state.
