The Northrop T-38 Talon supersonic jet is one of the main forms of transportation for traveling astronauts.

Still used today, the jets were built for the U.S. Air Force between 1961 and 1972.

The jets also provide for rigorous astronaut training and proficiency for enhancing teamwork among astronaut crews under real world conditions.

This T-38 is on display at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex outside the Atlantis exhibit.
