The newly installed Bald Eagle statue at the Launch Complex 39 Observation Gantry at Kennedy Space Center is made from metal saved from the 2023 deconstruction of Apollo Mobile Launcher 1 / STS Mobile Launch Platform 3.

Mobile Launcher 1 was used during the Apollo Program to launch Saturn rockets with astronaut crews to the Moon.

Space Transportation System (STS) Mobile Launch Platform 3 was used for the launching of Space Shuttle Orbiters.

Austin Williams created the sculpture in 2024.

The lighting was not the best with overcast skies and rain.
