Humm|ing|bird – 1 of 2

Until recently I have only seen two hummingbirds that I know of. Now, with the addition of a hummingbird feeder in the backyard, hummingbirds are a daily presence. Here is a random collection of hummingbirds drinking my homemade nectar concoction. These are all Ruby-throated Hummingbirds. About the only kind seen in my part of Florida.

This individual was wary of me taking photos and would stay behind the bottle, occasionally peering around it to see what I was doing.

A small portion of the hummingbird’s long tongue can be seen sticking out of its partially open bill.

A tiny flying insect makes the scene.

Amazingly, during migration, this tiny bird can fly across the Gulf of Mexico in one long flight.
