Remembering a chance encounter with a hawk from back in March 2014.
Walking out at Treasure Hammock Ranch this afternoon I unexpectedly flushed a Red-shouldered Hawk out of a palm tree causing the hawk to circle repeatedly low overhead till I got past. Hard to see in the image, but the hawk’s beak was covered in red gore so the bird must have been interrupted while eating a meal. Once I got past the tree the hawk circled around and went back into the palm tree, most likely to finish the meal.
