The normally secretive Sora Rail was not so secretive early one morning at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. The shy bird came right out of the shadowy mangroves and into the morning light to forage along the water’s edge.

The Sora is a bird I normally don’t see very often so this time was quite an exception.
