COSMO-SkyMed Second Generation FM2

First stage at upper left during the boostback burn to return for a landing. The second stage is at lower right heading for orbit.

The low Sun angle for the post-sunset launch of a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket carrying Italy’s COSMO-SkyMed Second Generation FM2 (CSG-2) satellite put on quite a show of light and interacting exhaust plumes at stage separation. The first stage made its way back for a successful landing at Landing Zone 1 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The second stage placed the satellite successfully into orbit.
