Remembering the cool January 2015 bird count during the hot days of summer.
Today was the belated monthly bird count for January at the Indian River Club, which was a week later than usual due to the holidays but still starting just before sunrise to make the most of the morning bird activity. If I learned anything today it is to not be lazy and to get out of the golf cart to take photographs. Something to remember for next month. Above, an American Kestrel.

An amazing sight! The Florida Scrub-Jay family — the parents with their two surviving children all in a row with a Northern Mockingbird at far right to boot!

And thank you, again, to my bird count colleagues: Joe Carroll, Roz James, and Susan Boyd.
