Spaceflight is dangerous and the occasional loss of life is memorialized every 28th of January on the anniversary of the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster (STS-51L), which also honors the lost crews of Apollo 1 and the Space Shuttle Columbia (STS-107) amongst others. My collage features the remains of Launch Complex 34 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station where the crew of Apollo 1 died in a fire during a training session aboard their spacecraft while atop the Saturn 1B rocket along with an excerpt from the memorial plaque dedicated to that event. The jet is a T-38 once used by the astronauts that is currently on display at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.

Your collage is a great tribute. It makes me think of what we are prepared to sacrifice when we really want to achieve something that was once only the stuff of dreams.
