“Power is first generated at the new municipally- owned steam plant, built with blue aluminum siding, and located at 17th Street and Indian River Boulevard. The new Vero Beach Municipal Power Plant continues to be supplemented by the old diesel power plant for several decades, used fro high demand and during emergencies. .,. December 1961”
