Harpers Ferry National Historic Park in West Virginia is a real treasure of the National Park Service for fans of both the Civil War and of U.S. history in general. I have been lucky to visit the place twice so far. Once in the dead of winter on a cold and foggy day with a misty rain falling and once in summer on a hot, sunny day with people on rafts lazily floating around on the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers. Guess which visit the image was taken on.
