Sunday morning saw the Golden Silk Spider couple living behind the office at ORCA in seemingly perfect health on a large, well-maintained web. A day later things are drastically different. The web is a wreck with large, ragged holes in it. The female is gone with only the small male present. Were they the victims of foul play? Did a predator swoop in and grab the female away? Or is she off laying her eggs on a nearby tree? For now here are two photos of the forlorn male taken this afternoon on the remains of the web.
