With some small physiological changes, like more powerful talons, the Loggerhead Shrike would be considered a raptor. As it is, this little guy does very well for itself wreaking havoc amongst the small fauna living in its territory as it forages for prey.
The Grackles flocking around the catwalks and surrounding machinery and pipes at the Wastewater Treatment Facility made for an interesting shot. Little did I realize until I got home and examined the photos that there was a Loggerhead Shrike sitting right there with the Grackles completely unseen by me though I was apparently looking right at the bird.
