The Blue Cypress Conservation Area is part of the 52,671-acre Upper St. Johns River Basin Project. Drained for agriculture in the early 1900s, the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers is trying to reestablish a semblance of extensive wetland habitats that defined the area prior to its disruption.
