Lunar Patriotism Day

Image #240704

A view of the Apollo 11 landing site diorama at the Apollo Saturn V Center at Kennedy Space Center with the astronauts and the lunar module behind the United States flag. Erecting the flag was one of the first things Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin did on the Moon. A rod extends at a right angle away from the pole unfurling the flag to give the illusion the flag is waving in a non-existent lunar wind.
