Illuminated only by the light of the full Moon, this canal, known as the Main Canal that cuts west to east across Indian River County, drains fresh water from the county into the ocean.  Without canals like these incessantly draining away water, Indian River County would be very wet indeed.  This is bureaucratically called a relief canal.
