The red-cockade of this male Red-cockaded Woodpecker can be seen in this video frame grab processed to bring the bird out of the deep shadows on the backside of a long-leaf pine tree at St. Sebastian River Preserve State Park. The red-cockade is often not seen in the field due to its small size together with often being covered by the adjoining black feathers.
