Master Impersonator

A Northern Mockingbird watches the birders at Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge. This is one of my favorite birds. Even the Mockingbird’s scientific name Mimus polyglottos, which translates to “many-tongued mimic”, celebrates its ability to imitate almost endlessly the songs of other birds. A trait I am able to enjoy in my backyard almost year round.
